Last Friday I decided to have a go at doing my Finish it Friday series of blog posts again and get some of my UNFINISHED projects done. I picked up a little mini album that I started on last year and decided it definitely was time to get it done. I’d waited too long to buy the same papers that I started out with so I had to pull in a different collection. I think I did okay. I worked on it Friday night and also over the weekend and I’m happy to say that I did get it done and sharing it here today for my Finish it Friday post!
I started the album using the “Family Reunion” by Echo Park paper collection but quickly ran out and didn’t buy more. So to finish it, I pulled out “Summer Lovin” by Carta Bella and added those to the papers already in the album. This changed it from a “Family Reunion” theme to a “Family Reunion/Summer Vacation” theme. I think it works and I do love those Summer Lovin’ papers and colors. In the photo above you are seeing one of my favorite layouts–a waterfall page and below are more of the pages in the album.
The little campers are cut from the paper collection and attached to the strip of paper so that they slide and can be moved across the page. Each camper has Glossy Accent added to them to make them look like thick embellishments.
And the finished cover that I shared last week…
I know I said that I would decide on my next Finish Friday project and announce it in this post but, well….I haven’t decided yet and now I’m out of town for my family reunion. We’ll be at the lake camping all weekend and it will be very hot but it will be so much fun spending time with friends and family! Next week I’m also cutting and prepping class kits for my June 24th class at Flossie Scrapper. I’m teaching a class on my French Country Mini Album. There are still some spots left but you do need to register in advance and the last day to do so is next Thursday the 22nd. Contact the store to sign up at 817-295-7100. Here’s what we will be making in class:
I’ve also got my class dates set for July & August! These classes will also be at Flossie Scrapper in Joshua, Texas.
July 22 – Nature Sketchbook Mini Album to go inside the Treasure Box we made at the May class. If you did not take the box class, you can still take the album class and finish it at home with any paper collection you choose. The class fee to create a black blank album is $55. If you took the Nature Sketchbook Treasure Box class and want your album to match your box, you can add on the decorative paper kit for an extra $20.
August 12 & 13 – Master Detective Curio Cabinet with Folio Album. I don’t have this one made yet but the design is planned and once it’s done I’ll have a price for you. This is a two day class so we can make the Curio Cabinet on Saturday and the Folio Album that fits inside of the cabinet on Sunday. Mark your Calendar!
Have a great weekend and Happy Crafting!
I was able to do a couple of real simple quick pages in my album for Finish it Friday before leaving on our road trip! Yay! This project is a Photo Frame Keepsake Memory Box and Mini Album created from a tutorial purchased from Kathy Orta King of Paper Phenomenon. I’m using Carta Bella’s “So This is Christmas” paper collection along with some other paper lines that go well with the main collection. The box is finished and I started last week to work on the album to get it finished. I’ll be working on it each Friday for Finish it Friday until it is done. Above is the next page in the book that has vertical flaps. I patterned it with red chevron paper on each flap and then added the trees in the center which is the back side of the chevron paper. I added a couple of chipboard stickers and green rhinestones on the stars of the trees in the center. I also created a pull out booklet out of the same papers that you can see in the pocket on the right side of the page.
On the backside of the above pages, I used some paper from a 12×12 pad that I purchased from Michael’s on sale last year. I think the colors of it work fabulously with the Carta Bella papers. This is a flap page and I patterned the flap to match the larger inside page. I then added a strip of the chevron paper to pull it all together and added a deer chipboard sticker and a “winter wonderland” sticker at the bottom.
And that’s what I got done this week. I hope to do several more pages next week. There will be no carfting for me this weekend as we are headed to the San Antonio area for a family wedding. Maybe I’ll find time to go to the scrapbook store in New Braunfels and see what it is like. Have a great weekend!
Back before I started my Thirteen Frights Before Halloween project, I’d selected my Gypsy Flower Wagon and Mini Album as my project for Finish It Friday. But now that it’s November and Christmas will soon be here, I felt more in the mood to finish a Christmas project. I looked on my shelves and found this project–“So This Is Christmas” (Carta Bella) Photo Frame Keepsake Box and Mini Album. The box is finished (I think–though I might add a few more embellishments later) and the album is constructed but not patterned nor decorated. Today is my first Friday to work on this so I’ve titled this “Week #1.” I had to dig around a bit to find the papers that I’d saved for this project. Luckily it wasn’t too hard to locate. I think I have enough but may add some other paper lines that coordinate well with the Carta Bella “So This Is Christmas” paper collection.
The outside and inside covers of the album were already patterned (no embellishments yet, I’ll do that last).
I set to work today to finish the inside front cover and a couple of the pages/flaps. Here’s what I got done…
By the way, this project is constructed from a Kathy Orta King, Paper Phenomenon, tutorial that you can purchase from her website. It has an unique pocket on the inside covers–it’s sealed on the center and you can insert tags, booklets and photos into the top and bottom of the “Pocket.” On this one, I also added a belly band created out of the musical note paper and inserted a Christmas List booklet behind that belly band. This paper line came with a sticker sheet and chipboard stickers which makes it fun to decorate. On the right is the first page which has horizontal flaps. In the space between the flaps, I added a matching sticker of “rick rack,” some sticker “buttons,” button twine and rhinestones. Inside the pocket behind the flaps I created a large booklet out of the decorative paper.
In the photo above is the flap of page 2. The Christmas tree is printed on the decorative paper and I added some sticker ornaments and chipboard sticker ornaments to decorate the tree. You can’t see it in the photo, but I used clear Wink of Stella glitter to sparkle up the ornaments. Then I added a silver glittery ribbon strip made out of scor-tape and ultra fine glitter.
When you open up the flap, you see the full inside of page 2 where there’s room for photos and/or letters to (or from) Santa.
And that’s it for this week and for this Finish it Friday. I have lots to do this weekend–crafting on design projects, shopping and such. I hope to be back Monday with another post. Until then….
There they are. In the photo above. All the bits and pieces you need to create a book box to store your mini album in. I had to add a little height to my book box so my chunky little album would fit! Ha, ha.
It’s day 11 now of my Thirteen Frights Before Halloween! I’m thrilled that we got the mini album done and all decorated too! That gives us three days to assemble the book box, pattern it and decorate the front cover of it. Today is all about the assembly of course and the video was so long that I split it up into two parts: Video A and Video B. You will need black chipboard and black cardstock for this plus 3/8″ and 1/2″ scor-tape and white glue.

Tomorrow we will pattern the box–outside and inside!
We’re adding more spooky goodness and fun Trick or Treat papers to The Thirteen Frights Before Halloween Mini Album today for Day 5! In case you’ve missed reading it, I’m using the Carta Bella “Trick or Treat” paper collection and I bought mine from Flossie Scrapper in Joshua/Burleson, Texas. The album is coming along nicely and it looks like we will have a few extra days before Halloween to make the “book” box to store it in! I’m excited to see the finished project but must have patience as we have quite a few more days to work on it!

Update on the tombstone box and mini album tutorial–Crafty Peeps, I’ve been sooooooo busy with this Thirteen Days Before Halloween and prepping kits this week for a class on Saturday that I have not had a chance at all to work on the tutorial. Yes, I still want to, but I also have to work in my hubby’s construction office and since that pays our bills…..I’m not giving up hope just yet though. Let’s wait until next week and see how it goes. I know it might not be ready in time for you to work on it for THIS Halloween but we are crafters and always create things for NEXT year. Yes?
Check back tomorrow for Day 6 and…
