It’s time for a new sketch challenge on Seems a Little Sketchy! We are sponsored for this challenge by Fitztown and my image is “Garden 29”–ladybugs on leaves.  I colored the image with the Copic markers shown below–

I used 6×6 papers from Authentique “Journey” and Fancy Pants “Nautical.”  I also used Dark Navy Cardstock.  The flower is a white Petaloo that I colored with the blue Copic Markers shown above.  I also used my clear Wink of Stella Brush pen to add a bit of sparkle and shimmer to the leaves and the flower. The sentiment is an acrylic stamp by Papertrey Ink from the Signature Greetings II collection.

This post is being scheduled while I’m away with hubby on our anniversary trip to Houston/Galveston.  We should be home by the time it goes live on Monday morning.

If you’d like to join in on this challenge, head over to the Seems a Little Sketchy blog and check out the post for Sketch #68.  Once you made a card (you have 2 weeks) post it on your own blog and then link it to the challenge post.  There will be a prize of 3 digi images from Fitztown awarded to one randomly selected entry.

Sketch #68

Hope to see you there and happy crafting!

Here we are, nearing the end of JUNE! Oh my!  The year just keeps whizzing right on by!  Much too fast, I’d say.  This morning hubby and I are leaving for our Anniversary trip and we will be at or near the beach, but I’m not a beach person.  I sunburn. Badly.  So while we will be in Houston and then Galveston to visit the beach area, rummage through a few shops and dine on seafood, we will not be spending time sunning on the beach.  I prefer to walk a beach looking for seashells at sunset while hubby prefers to fish.  Anyway, we celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, June 25th.  Talk about time going by fast!  On the one hand it seems like yesterday yet on the other hand well…yeah…38 years.
But enough of all that, it’s time for a new challenge over on Digi Haven!  Life’s a Beach!  Yep, create a project using a digi image that depicts life on the beach.  Our sponsor is the ever fabulous Bugaboo and I used this super cute image–Beach Peeker.  Love it! So simple but so cute!  I colored him up with my Copic markers as shown below and did the background with my Tim Holtz Distress ink pads and foam applicators.

That’s really all the details for this card.  I matted the background on some dark navy cardstock, added the inks onto the background (white cardstock) in the following colors:  Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry, Tumbled Glass and Antique Linen.  I printed up the sentiment on my computer and punched it out with a Stampin’ Up! Label Punch.  An easy peasy card but so bright and colorful and so…beachy.

You’ve got two weeks starting today to create a project using a digital stamp image and sharing it with us over on Digi Haven.  One randomly chosen winner will receive a prize from Bugaboo Stamps and the designers will also choose the top three favorites.  I hope you’ll find the time to join us.

It is with great sadness that I edit this post today–July 2,2014.  This Digi Haven challenge and all future challenges at Digi Haven have been closed.  Our sweet, awesome and very dear hostess of the challenge, Denise, has been diagnosed this week with a very serious illness and the outcome is not looking good for her. She is in the hospital undergoing a barrage of tests.  Challenges are fun but for her, it is time to focus on more important things–herself and her family.  I want to thank all of you that follow me for joining me in the Digi Haven challenges and for sharing your talents with us.  And if you pray, I’d like to ask that you say a prayer or two for Denise.  Great things can happen when many of us join together.  Thank you.

Ahh Summer.  You are here!  I think there’s nothing more fun in the sun than floating in the pool even on a duck floaty in a blow up pool.  Our theme this time for Cards in Envy is “Fun in the Sun.”  We want to see cards (A2 size only) that show fun things you do in the sun.

For this card I used a digi set from Digi Web Studio that I purchased online.  The set comes with black & white images plus pre-colored images.  I decided to use the pre-colored images for this card.  I sized them and printed them up on my computer and then fussy cut out the different images.  The papers for this card are from a new 6×6 paper pad I bought by Fancy Pants called Nautical.  I also used black cardstock to mat the layers.  The sunglasses on the sun are popped up just a tiny bit with foam squares and I painted over the lenses of the sunglasses with a Clear Wink of Stella Brush pen which gave them just a touch of sparkle.  I also added a touch of sparkle to the water droplets.  I then added the blue and orange flat brads along the side.  I love those brads!  They are so flat and perfect for a Cards in Envy card that needs to be mailed.  I have had those for quite a while and can’t remember what brand they are or where I bought them.  I now wish I had more of them!

Hopefully, you’ll find time to check out our challenge at Cards in Envy and share your flat, A2 Summer card. The challenge runs July 6th so you’ve got lots of time to get one done!

Happy Crafting,

Our sponsor, The Robin’s Nest,  for the Seems a Little Sketchy challenge that starts tomorrow (Monday, June 16th) does not sell digi images but sells paper and other supplies.  So since there are no images, the designers for Seems a Little Sketchy got to use any image they want for this challenge.  I decided to do something just a little different and created my image with a stencil and Tim Holtz Distress inks.  On a piece of white cardstock, I taped down the butterfly stencil and then I used foam applicators and three different Distress inks to get this colorful butterfly.  I used Picked Raspberry, Tumbled Glass and Squeezed Lemonade.  The stencil moved a little bit on the right while I was inking and blurred the pattern but I decided to go ahead and use it as butterflies do have variation.  I attached the butterfly to the card base just in the center so the wings are sticking up.

For this card, I used Little Yellow Bicycle 12×12 paper from my stash–Fresh Print Clothesline “Cora Chrysanthemum” and yellow cardstock.  The decorative corners are made from a Stampin’ Up! decorative corner punch, cut in half after it’s punched and the sentiment is a Papertrey Ink Daily Designs Sentiment stamped with Stampin’ Up! Melon Mambo ink.  Again, you can’t see it in the photo but parts of the butterfly have been touched with my new Clear Wink of Stella brush pen for a bit of sparkle.  I’m loving using this pen on my cards.

Now it’s your turn to get crafty and create a card following this sketch–

Sketch #67
One random entry will be chosen at the end of the challenge to win a $10 gift voucher from The Robin’s Nest.  I know you’d be able to find some fun crafty supply item you could use.  The challenge runs for 2 weeks–hope to see you over on Seems a Little Sketchy!
Happy Crafting,
