Score!  I call these trinkets as I will be putting them on various mini album projects but really these are all jewelry pieces that I bought this morning at the First Monday Trade Days in my town, Weatherford, Texas.  Most are pins except for the flip flops, butterfly and the perfume bottle which came on a chain.  I paid a $1 – $2 for each piece. Not sure which I’m more excited about–the flip flops, the perfume bottle OR Dorothy’s red shoes!  I love the violin, red roses, angel, peacock and butterfly too.  I think I did quite well rummaging through old jewelry from the various dealers that were set up to sell their wares this weekend.  All that walking did wear me out though. It was hot and humid. Ugh. I hate humid weather so I had to sit in the recliner for an hour or so with my feet up to rest once we got home.  I also got a tad sunburned too but not bad–just a little pink.  Now I’m ready to work on a few crafty things this evening unless hubby finds a movie for us to watch on the big screen t.v.  Last Sunday we went to the actual movies and watched Godzilla.  We liked the movie and thought it was worth the money for a Sunday afternoon of movie entertainment. The popcorn was good too. Ha, ha.

Hope you’re having a happy and crafty weekend!

Do you often find yourself using the same sentiment stamp over and over?  I do.  It seems that certain ones in a set are just perfect for so many different cards.  I find myself wondering if I should retire a sentiment that I’ve used many times and buy something new but then I hesitate to change because it still works so well for my cards.  I figure you are all surely sick of me listing “Papertrey Ink Acrylic XXXX Stamp Set” in my supplies used details, but for now, I’ll just keep using them.
Anyway, this card is for the new Digi Haven challenge that goes live today (Friday).  The theme is “Flowers in Pots.”  All of the Digi Haven Designers have used an adorable digi image from our sponsor Lacy Sunshine. Each one is so cute!  Amazing  little people in some sort of flower pot container.  Mine is called “Zinnia.”  I colored her up with the Copic markers shown below.

The papers I used were perfect for this challenge and came from my scrap paper stash.  I made my own flowers out of the paper too!  I used a Heartfelt Creations Vintage Floret Spellbinder Die set to cut each section of the flowers and then added brads from my stash as the centers.  The bow is tied from some natural button twine from Papertrey Ink and of course, the sentiment is a Papertrey Ink acrylic stamp from their Mailbox Greetings set.  You’ll notice that I also stitched on the card base using a zig-zag and straight stitch on my sewing machine.

So what digi image will you use that depicts “Flowers in Pots?”  If you don’t have one in mind, you can head over to Lacy Sunshine and use one of hers.  She has lots that would be great to add to your collection.  If you do, be sure to make a card or project and link it up to the Digi Haven challenge.  There will be a prize of 3 digi images from Lacy Sunshine to one randomly selected challenge participant. And remember, you must use a DIGI image to enter the challenge.

Hope you have a wonderful and crafty weekend!

Well, there’s not really “Magic” on my workdesk except the word “MAGIC” there on a piece of paper that I hope to put on an album cover.  This week I’m working on a camera box.  That’s it in the upper left corner. I don’t want to show it just yet as it’s not quite finished.  I’m waiting on an order of watch parts boxes to arrive so I can make the “lens.”  The rest of the stuff on the desk is for that project–sticker sheets from Simple Stories (Say Cheese paper collection) and a pack of black cardstock as I’m about to cut out the components for FOUR wallet albums that will go in the camera box.  Everything else there is my normal stuff–glue, scissors (yes, I only have one pair there this week. Ha, ha.), corner chompers, Score-tape, ATG gun, etc.

I’m a bit late at getting this post up today as I forgot it was Wednesday. Having a Monday holiday does that to me every time.  By the time I figure out what day it is, it will be the weekend; but I’m not complaining about that!

To find out more about this What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday thing, click here to go to Julia’s blog the Stamping Ground. Others link up their blogs and you can visit other crafters from all around the world. Lots of fun to participate in and/or link up with. AND today is What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday’s FIVE year anniversary! Wow!  Happy Anniversary WOYWW!!

Have a great Wednesday! And Happy Crafting!

This is a photo I took of red poppies about 4 years ago in a field at a wildflower farm in the Hill Country of Texas.  I’ve always loved poppies, especially the red and that they make me reflect and remember those who have given their life for our freedoms.  Today, I share this photo again in memory of all those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their life.

In Flanders Fields
by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead.
Short days ago we lived,
Felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
in Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from falling hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders field.

Peace and comfort to those who have lost loved ones while serving our great country. May their memory live on.

Hello there, crafty people! It’s Wednesday and time to share what’s on my workdesk today.  Over the weeknd I started working on a camera box project that holds 4 mini wallet albums.  I’m trying to write a tutorial on it and video it at the same time to offer in my online store.  At the rate I’m going it will be late summer before it’s ready but it’s a really cute project and I’m using Say Cheese papers by Simple Stories for most of it to give it a “Disney” vibe.  I’m currently searching for some containers that will work for the lens piece on the front.  No luck yet.  I had two but have already used them on the two camera boxes I made last month. So…I’ll keep looking. If you have any ideas, let me know! Anyway, I did get a bit distracted on the camera box and have been sorting my completed cards to see which ones I can list for sale in my store. I think it would be easier to just list them all rather than hold back certain holiday ones as I often forget to list them when I should so peeps can buy them for a particular holiday. Ugh.  Everything else on the desk is much the same as last week.  Pink craft mat, tote full of tools, adhesive etc.  I did switch out the purplish Easter basket for the white plastic one you see here.  I usually put my glues and score-tape in a basket to try to keep them all in one place.  The polka-dotted glass is for Copic markers when I’m coloring images.

Okay, if you don’t know already, I’ll share some brief details of “What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday?”  It’s a blog post started (5 years ago I think) by Julia of the Stamping Ground. Each Wednesday she starts a new post and provides a link.  She takes a photo of her desk and then encourages the rest of us crafty people to take a photo of ours and link it to her post.  We then visit each other, often not everyone as there are a LOT of people linking up, but it is great fun to see what others are working on, how they store their supplies and what tools and goodies they own.  Join in if you’d like.

Have a great day and Happy WOYWW!
